Frequently asked questions

Do you require a deposit on booking?

Yes. I require a 20% deposit on booking. The remainder of your package cost is paid on the day of the session. If you add additional products, payment is required before the order is submitted to printers. (This policy is new, due to cancellations and uncollected products)

When should I book my newborn session?

The best time to photograph a newborn baby is when they are under two weeks of age. You can contact me at any time during your pregnancy to give me an estimated due date, I will then make a tentative booking and when you arrive home from hospital with your brand new baby you can contact me to arrange a suitable time and day for your session.

Where will my session be held?

Your session will take place in my home studio in Glengarriff, Co.Cork, or, at an outdoor location on request.

How long will my session take?

Newborn sessions can take up to 1 to 3 hours, allowing enough time for feeding and comforting. All other sessions will take

1-1.5 hrs.

How can I prepare for my newborn session?

I would advise that you to try keep your baby awake for an hr before the session, so that he/she is nice and sleepy for the duration of the session. I realise that this is difficult so I would suggest maybe giving baby a bath.

Try to time the baby's feed so that baby has a full feed before coming to the studio.

Dress your newborn in easy to take off clothing like a baby-grow. Do not layer with vest etc. You can use blankets and a hat to keep baby warm in transit.

I always advise that you bring an extra feed for baby as some babies tend to feed more during the session. Or, may need feeding before going home, especially if you have a distance to travel.

Bring a sterilised soother. I may use it for soothing purposes.

What should we wear for our family session?

Try to plan in advance. Keep it simple. Do not wear bright colours or big patterns. Plain clothing is best. Stay away from any t-shirts with writing on them. We want your family to stand out, not the clothing. Keep the colours similar throughout the family ie. all pastels, all white, dad and daughters matching mom and sons matching.

Can I bring grandparents to my newborn session?

Only two adults are allowed sit in on your newborn session. However, you can arrange to have an extra photo taken with grandparents at an additional cost. Grandparents would come at the end of the session just for their photo.

How long will I have to wait until I receive proofs?

You will receive your proofs within two weeks of your session.

Can I get additional prints and products?

Yes. I have a range of additional products to choose from. These are charged in addition to your package price. Packages are non-negotiable.

Can I bring my other children to a newborn session?

Siblings are included in most newborn packages. I ask, where possible, that siblings are brought to the studio at the end of the session at this time.

How many outfits will I bring for my older baby/children?

Bring as many as you like. We will use as many as we can within our time. Some may be suitable and others will not be, so best to have a choice.

For my cake smash do you provide decorations?

I provide balloons/flowers/greenery/custom set, depending on the package that you choose.

Do you supply the cake for Cake Smash sessions?

No. It is up to the client to provide the cake. I suggest a 6" cake. Keep it simple. Remember it is for smashing!

Can I bring my own props for my session?

At the moment no. As everything needs to be cleaned and sanitized, I will only be using a limited amount of props from my studio only.

What if I need to cancel my session?

I require at least 24hrs notice of cancellation, otherwise you will forfeit your deposit. An alternative date will be offered where possible but cannot be guaranteed.
